TAX – FREE BULLION & MONEY in ALABAMA

Alabama now has Senate Bill 156 on the books exempting bullion and money from sales tax.

 

Here are some quick facts:

1. The tax-free period started effective June 01, 2018.
 

2. Items covered: 

​

  • BULLION - Gold, silver, platinum, palladium that is at least 90% pure, and its value fluctuates and depends upon the ‘spot’ market price.
     

  • MONEY: Any United States of America coins or currency, whether or not it has a precious metal value.

 

3. Items NOT covered:
 

  • FOREIGN coins (unless they are bullion) or currency, Confederate ‘money’ (bonds). Copper rounds, coin supplies, or everything not covered above!
     

  • JEWELRY, and precious metal works of art (such as sterling silver tea sets, etc.)
